Excessive consumption of coffee, or caffeine in general is bad because it is a stimulant, but moderate consumption of it can’t hurt.
I drink it every morning especially during intermittent fasting and along with it I mixed butter, cinnamon powder and coconut oil, which is very helpful when it comes to improving focus without feeling much hunger during that fasting period.

Since I know how to make my own coffee with the exception of instant coffee as you don’t have to do anything on it, but put water and drink it. It’s been around 10 years I haven’t drink instant coffee, but occasionally.
I brewed my own coffee using the conventional way, but recently I’ve learned there is another way of brewing a coffee using cold water, or should I say room temperature. At first, since this is the first time I’ve heard about the cold brew method, I was skeptical. In fact, I didn’t tried it until my last coffee maker broke.
Instead of buying a new coffee maker, I revisited the cold brew coffee method, which I dig a little deeper when it comes to its benefits, which is very important specially that I used to drinking hot brewed coffee.
It’s important to know a little more about the cold brew method specially that coffee when not done and consume right can be problematic. According to a naturalist expert, the issue with coffee is comparable to a wine.
Wine is a nutritive beverage, but it has alcohol content issue. With just the right amount of alcohol is good antiseptic, and helpful for digestion as in red wine, but too much of it can lead to health issues in the long run.
Coffee has wonderful components with antioxidant properties including the slowing down of aging, and perhaps the new studies are staring to take notice of these health benefits in drinking coffee.
The problem with coffee, however, is the excessive acid contents in it. In fact, teeth can be damage when drinking strong coffee. The body has two sides such as the alkaline and acid sides.
The alkaline side is more comfortable, but the acid part is more painful. This sometimes can equate when a person feels pain means that person is too acidic, and there are complex reasons why that’s true.
The good news is cold brewing the coffee extracts more of its flavor without jacking up the acid contents. In fact, cold brewing the coffee can reduce its acid contents up to 70% less acidic.
The principle behind why cold brewing coffee reduce the acid contents is water a universal solvent that breaks everything down. Cold brewing extract the coffee flavor out from the coffee beans without using any heat.
The bad news, it takes a lot longer and it needs patient as the coffee needs to be soaked in cold water from 8 to 24 hours. The longer it soaked, the richer and stronger the flavor with less acid content.
How To Make Cold Brew Coffee
I’m sure for the majority who don’t have patience waiting for that long, this is enough to stop you from doing and making cold brew coffee. This is what stopped me before until my conventional coffee maker was broken. I can buy another coffee maker if I want to, but something reminded me about cold brewing.
Hence, I did my first cold brew, and it tastes delicious. And, yes, that something acidic feeling in the stomach when drinking coffee in the morning was gone.
It’s a lot smoother than conventional brewed coffee using hot water. Yes, there are also available cold brew coffee makers like the ones below;
As you can see in the video, there is no special equipment used, but a bowl, coffee, and filtered water. Let it set for 8 hours, but as I’ve mentioned, if you want richer coffee flavor, leave it soaked up to 24 hours.
When it comes to drinking it, I simply drink it pure coffee, black and sugar-free. Of course, I do heat it up, but most often I simply add hot water into just to heat it up a bit, which is important for me because I blend my coffee with butter, cinnamon powder and coconut oil. Heating it a bit makes all the ingredients blend together smoothly.
Another great thing about cold brewing is it can be easily turned into ice coffee. Instead of putting a little bit of hot water to heat it up, put ice on it. To make it tastier and flavorful, you can add your own twists on it. However, be careful what you add to your coffee specially sugar as it can dramatically increase its calorie content.
My Morning Cold Brew Coffee Recipe
Everyone has its own way of preparing coffee. Most people today opt for instant coffee with loads of added sugar even if it’s labeled “sugar-free” and that’s not just my type of coffee. I’ve already mentioned this earlier, but I would like to list and outlined a bit the procedure.
- First, cold brew your coffee preferably freshly ground coffee beans. Instructional video is provided above.
- Second, depending on the amount of coffee you want, pour a cold brew coffee into a pan and heat it a bit for a minute or two. When I’m preparing coffee in the morning, I always prepare two cups(one for me, one for my wife). I heat one cup of cold brew coffee and add one cup of hot water.
- Third, put a one-centimeter thick of grass fed / unsalted butter (which is about 2 tablespoon) into the blender. Add to it 2 tablespoon of coconut oil, and a teaspoon of cinnamon powder.
- Fourth, pour into the blender medium heated 1 cup of cold brew coffee and additional 1 cup of hot water.
- Firth, turn on the blender until everything inside is well mixed
- Sixth, SERVE and ENJOY!
It’s easy to prepare, isn’t it? It just takes a little bit of time. Everyone whom I showed this preparation complains how tedious it is. I simply say to them, if you’re gonna get used to instant coffee, you’ll never taste the goodness of this home cold brew coffee.
The funny thing is, they always complain about the preparation, but eventually praises the outcome 🙂 In the end, some of them eventually ended up making their own home cold brew coffee.
