Penile fracture or penis injury can be consider a rare occurrence. Although, the medical literature reports around 2000 cases each year, it is difficult to determine the exact number of men experiencing a penile trauma.
Mainly, penile fracture is a tear or rupture of the corpus cavernosum at full erection, and it can also affect both the Urethra and corpus spongiosum.
Reported real story told by a doctor here, and recently reported incident in which a 42-year old man from Boston was brought to the hospital when his penis accidentally hit his female partner's perineum during sexual intercourse.
The sudden lateral bending of a fully erect penis is enough to tear the thinly structured wall of the corpus cavernosum resulting to a fractured penis. This tear or break can be heard as a cracking sound while having a sexual intercourse.
The notorious sexual position that can cause penile fracture is the woman on top.
With this sexual position, man has no control of the action during sexual intercourse, hence aggressive or vigorous action of the woman on top can lead to the occurrence of injuring the penis.
Penile Fracture Can Result
- Severe and excruciating pain.
- Sudden loss of penile erection.
- Penis become purple.
What To Do?
- Stop sexual intercourse immediately.
- Go to the emergency room as soon as possible as this require a surgical procedure.
Due to the tear in the corpus cavernosum's thin-walled tissue when the penis was fractured, the penis can end up in curvature during erection, or it may lead to permanent impotence.
However, there is always good news. Most of the men who have experienced penile fractured are back to their active sex life without any issues. Keep in mind, if this happens, consult or seek medical help immediately.
