Technological advancements provided us with convenience in communication, both personal and business. However, it is also known that irresponsible use of gadgets like smartphones comes with health risks.
Among the known health risks of electromagnetic radiation is male infertility. Well, that’s just referring to 4G. Now, the global deployment of a new generation of wireless communication is imminent. The next generation is 5G, and those who are promoting it calls 5G, 4G in steroids.
It is not the intention of this article to provide judgment on whether 5G is harmful or not. Instead, being curious about it allows more information to be available making people draw appropriate conclusions from it.
Thankfully, there are people out there within the media willing to investigate and share the information regarding this matter. Sharyl Attkisson, host of Full Measure is one of these people; and here is her report about 5G.
Is it harmful and put human health at risks, or not? Watch the video to learn more. Additionally, in the report, it is explained what is 5G and how it is compared to the previous generations.
The Federal Communications Commission(FCC) has been actively promoting the deployment of 5G since 2016, or perhaps earlier than that.
In fact, the FCC commissioner had made a statement back in 2016 that 5G technology is more important than safety. Hence, 5G deployment is coming. Here, watch the video below;
5G Resistance From Health Experts
The first group of people who resist the deployment of 5G is the health experts including doctors and scientists. As a matter of fact, scientists from Europe warned about the potentially serious health effects of 5G.
We, the undersigned scientists, recommend a moratorium on the roll-out of the fifth generation, 5G, for telecommunication until potential hazards for human health and the environment have been fully investigated by scientists independent from industry. 5G will substantially increase exposure to radiofrequency electromagnetic fields (RF-EMF) on top of the 2G, 3G, 4G, WiFi etc. for telecommunications already in place. RF-EMF has been proven to be harmful for humans and the environment.
Moreover, the scientists say that based on the 2016 guidelines for the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of EMF-related health problems and illnesses, states that long-term exposure to EMFs has evidence as a risk factor for diseases like;
- Alzheimer’s disease
- Male infertility
- Common EHS (electromagnetic hypersensitivity) symptoms including;
- Concentration difficulties
- Sleep problems
- Lack of energy
- Flu-like symptoms
Furthermore, in 2011, the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) classified EMF including the one emitted by cellphones and cell towers as carcinogenic. However, regardless of this classification, scientists and experts appeal are ignored by the World Health Organization.
To evaluate cancer risks it is necessary to include scientists with competence in medicine, especially oncology. Furthermore, what are the personal advantages, at least in the short time, for those refusing to accept peer-reviewed scientific publications on adverse effects on health and environment from RF radiation? Ironically enough, whether knowingly or not, the WHO staff seems to protect themselves from high involuntary RF radiation levels at least in the measured areas within the Geneva building.Hardell L. World Health Organization, radiofrequency radiation and health – a hard nut to crack (Review). Int J Oncol. 2017;51(2):405–413. doi:10.3892/ijo.2017.4046
Moreover, an earlier study has concluded that people who used cellphones for ten years or more have an increased risk of cancer. Some say that through this study that the IARC classified EMF as carcinogenic.
In summary our review yielded a consistent pattern of an increased risk for glioma and acoustic neuroma after >10 year mobile phone use. We conclude that current standard for exposure to microwaves during mobile phone use is not safe for long-term exposure and needs to be revised.Lennart Hardell, Michael Carlberg, Kjell Hansson Mild https://doi.org/10.1016/j.pathophys.2009.01.003
In 2011, another paper concluded and supported the earlier study. It says;
Our analysis of the literature studies and of the results from meta-analyses of the significant data alone shows an almost doubling of the risk of head tumours induced by long-term mobile phone use or latency.Levis, A.G., Minicuci, N., Ricci, P. et al. Mobile phones and head tumours. The discrepancies in cause-effect relationships in the epidemiological studies – how do they arise?. Environ Health 10, 59 (2011). https://doi.org/10.1186/1476-069X-10-59
The EMSCientists.org website says As of October 15, 2019, 252 EMF scientists from 43 nations have signed the Appeal.
On other hand, the WHO, CDC, FCC, FDA and NIH are saying there is no evidence regarding health risks of EMF including 5G to human health.
But critics including the scientists who wrote the appeal responded that WHO, CDC, FCC, FDA, and NIH conclusions are not based on science but rather results of ignorance and lobbying telecommunications industry.
It is confusing, right? Well, it is. However, if you search the web about 5G, there are many organizations that opposed to its deployment.
Hence, if there is a lot of opposition to it, isn’t it a good idea (as an average individual) to investigate and do some research on it?
When it comes to the proponents of 5G, it’s clear they want 5G to be deployed and conclude it’s safe. However, if you’re someone who wants to dig deeper and seek more information than what is being touted as safe, here are some of the websites you can go to read more information about EMF and 5G.
Studies Showing The Potential Health Risks
Here is a video by Devra Davis of EHTrush.org showing the many studies the effects of EMF, particularly from cellphones, including the latest iPhone 11.
Another thing she has shown in the video is how exposure to this type of radiation can cause male fertility deterioration. She also explained a study of how it affects the brain of unborn children and how it affects the DNA.
Lastly, here is a quote from Rudolf Steiner. It seems he knew something about the danger of radiation back then;
In times when there were no electrical currents when the air was not swarming with electrical influences, it was easier to be human… For this reason, in order to be human at all today, it is necessary to expend much stronger spiritual capacities than was necessary a century ago.Rudolf Steiner
The $30M NTP Study
The National Toxicology Program(NTP) spent $30M conducting a comprehensive assessment of the dangers of radiofrequency radiation(RFR). The NTP is under the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, and it took them 10 years to conduct the study.
The conclusion of the $30M NTP study says;
We conclude that there is clear evidence that RF radiation is a human carcinogen, causing glioma and vestibular schwannoma (acoustic neuroma). There is some evidence of an increased risk of developing thyroid cancer, and clear evidence that RF radiation is a multi-site carcinogen.Hardell L, Carlberg M. Comments on the US National Toxicology Program technical reports on toxicology and carcinogenesis study in rats exposed to whole-body radiofrequency radiation at 900 MHz and in mice exposed to whole-body radiofrequency radiation at 1,900 MHz. Int J Oncol. 2019;54(1):111‐127. doi:10.3892/ijo.2018.4606
On the other hand, the FDA is somewhat belittling the findings by saying the results of the study in mice cannot be applied in humans.
Based on our ongoing evaluation of this issue, the totality of the available scientific evidence continues to not support adverse health effects in humans caused by exposures at or under the current radiofrequency energy exposure limits. We believe the existing safety limits for cell phones remain acceptable for protecting the public health.Statement from Jeffrey Shuren, M.D., J.D., Director of the FDA’s Center for Devices and Radiological Health on the National Toxicology Program’s report on radiofrequency energy exposure
What did the NTP study found? Here is a quick summary what the study found;
- Clear evidence of tumors in the hearts of male rats. The tumors were malignant schwannomas.
- Some evidence of tumors in the brains of male rats. The tumors were malignant gliomas.
- Some evidence of tumors in the adrenal glands of male rats. The tumors were benign, malignant, or complex combined pheochromocytoma.
So, who are you going to believe now, the researchers who did the study or the FDA? It is confusing, isn’t it? And, isn’t it that animals are supposed to a standard subject doing a study? Why are they saying that effects on mice cannot be applied to humans? Do researchers need to employ real human subjects for the research apply to humans?
Most of the time, studies are written by scientists to be read by scientists. They have this ability to play words that if we don’t read and understand it meticulously, it’s confusing and often lead us to believe the effect is minimal or no effect at all.
But consider this, regardless the minuscule exposure to radiation as researchers say, which may seem to have no effect, it could amplify its potential impacts due to other factors such as air and water pollution, toxic chemicals found in everyday household products, unhealthy and harmful ingredients found in many food products, etc.
If minuscule exposure is the only factor that might have no effect at all on human health as other things like a healthy diet, clean air and water, and no harmful chemicals around can outweigh the adverse effects.
However, today, this sounds close to impossible to achieve unless one is very conscious and strict about his or her health regimen.
The 60GHz 5G Frequency Band
The 60GHz frequency band is currently unlicensed, but some say the military is already using as crowd dispersal weapon. Today, companies are racing to use the 60GHz frequency band, including Qualcomm, the manufacturer of mobile processors, and other wireless chips and devices.
Furthermore, 60GHz exist already as 5G indoor wireless standard, 802.11ad and experts call it mmWave(millimeter wave) frequency band.
When we say 5G, this may seem nothing at all. It is already in existence in most dual-band home routers today. But when speaking of high-band 5G or mmWave frequency band, this is something that people should be concerned.
The military calls it a non-lethal weapon. Here is how it works;
The effect is similar to what microwave oven does. It is why these people are feeling the heat in their skin. Now, high-band 5G frequency band may not as powerful as that military crowd-dispersing tool. But, surely that high-band 60GHz 5G frequency is emitting signal continuously.
Even more than that, it requires many antennas in mesh configuration as it not efficient in traveling long-distances. Hence, many of these antennas will be installed in close proximity creating a web of this high-band 5G frequency.

It’s clear; there is evidence that such technology can cause harm to human health. Of course, it needs more studies to ensure safety in humans. And, hopefully, manufacturers would be able to make it safer. But who knows, the FCC does not even bother requiring independent studies.
Today, we are bombarded with developments that supposed to help us become healthier and happier. For instance, the pharmaceutical industry has been known to produced drugs causing more harm than good, particularly medications for anxiety, depression, and stress.
Many decades ago, the tobacco industry has been promoting cigarette smoking to cause no harm to human health but eventually found to cause cancer.
Right now, it’s 5G, and proponents of it are promoting it as safe. Would it be another development in which to be found to cause health risks many years from now?
We may not have full control over it but doing some research coming from credible sources can be helpful for us in weighing the facts from both sides.
What we can do starting this time is to focus on proper nutrition to provide nourishment for the body. Additionally, developing the habit of exercising even with just natural movements like walking and running are very helpful.
Avoiding drinks containing a high amount of sugar is just as beneficial. Increase your water intake instead. If you’re a smoker, quitting smoking is a good thing to do. In short, we must take action to let our bodies trigger the detoxification process.
And, speaking of wellness, here is an interesting viewpoint on living with 5G. It is an episode from Gaia.Tv’s Beyond Belief wherein George Noory interviews Ben Stewart. Ben has an interesting perspective of transcending the 5G technology and beyond as there is no escaping from it.
The 5G, cellphone, and wireless technology in general, including the previous generations like 3G and 4G, have divided people’s views. Some think the technology does not affect human health, and those with proof it does.
Looking at existing studies, the harmful effects are not apparent very quickly as this study found it took at least 10 years before the symptoms begin to manifest.
Regardless, it is imperative to use technology wisely and responsibly. There is evidence that too much exposure to wireless radiation harms men’s fertility. Also, too much exposure to children on digital screens is terrible as it causes delays in developmental skills and alters their behaviors.
Moreover, these frequencies might have harmful reactions to human bodies as a consequence to unhealthy lifestyle and poor nutrition.
Here is another documentary about frequencies, including those in cellphones and wireless technology in general. The movie documentary is available for free on YouTube, but you can also watch it below.
