Hazelnuts Health Benefits For Middle-Age People

Nuts are packed with nutrients. An earlier study says that a handful of nuts a day is linked with longevity. Of course, it includes hazelnuts.

In another study1 by Oregon State University researchers, hazelnuts were found to increase levels of Vitamin E and magnesium. The participants of the study were midlife men and women consuming two ounces of hazelnuts a day for a period of four months.

Consuming hazelnuts improves a biomarker of vitamin E status in older adults. Vitamin E is a shortfall micronutrient, as identified by the Dietary Guidelines for Americans 2015-2020, which frequently is consumed at levels less than the Estimated Average Requirement of 12 mg/d; thus, hazelnuts should be considered as part of a healthy dietary pattern.

The researchers in the study say that both Vitamin E and magnesium are essential micro-nutrients. Unfortunately, many people, including Americans, have lower concentrations of these micro-nutrients.

Sadly, lacking these micro-nutrients is linked to age-related health problems during senior years like Alzheimer’s disease.

Hence, boosting the levels of these micro-nutrients Vitamin E and magnesium is essential. The mineral magnesium alone involves hundreds of processes in the body crucial to health.

Additionally, the researchers found hazelnuts based on blood tests that it decreases blood sugar. It also tends to lower LDL cholesterol, which is considered bad cholesterol.

Takeaways

Nuts are both healthy and delicious. Hence, making it a part of your typical healthy diet is not that difficult.

Of course, there are other nuts packed with nutrients such as Walnuts, pistachios, and Brazil nuts.
